Prof. G.P. Das is a Condensed Matter Physicist cum Materials Scientist, whose research interests include electronic structure and properties of materials from bulk to nano. He earned his Master’s from Calcutta University and a PhD from Bombay University, later conducting post-doctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research. Das has held senior positions at BARC Mumbai, IACS Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and St. Xavier’s College Kolkata. He made important contributions in the field of first principles investigation of alloys and intermetallics, energy materials, two-dimensional materials as well as semiconductor spintronics. He has more than 150 research publications in peer reviewed journals, book chapters etc. He is a Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology, and his accolades include receiving the MRSI Silver Jubilee Award, and the ACCMS Award for his exceptional research contributions and workshops within India and abroad, and is known for his passion in delivering pedagogic level lectures at various levels. |
