The Energy Consortium is an umbrella initiative at IIT Madras that spans the whole spectrum of research in energy generation, storage, conversion, and distribution. We are an industry-academia-government collaborative effort established with the aim of accelerating the development of technologies that shall enable the energy transition towards a low-carbon future.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our cutting-edge research in development of desiccant integrated HVAC systems, with the continuous development of our novel low-regeneration temperature desiccant. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of experts and focus on the following deliverables

1.) Key publications in reputable journals

2.) Design and perform simulations, experiments and support with research management

3.) Support supervision on B.Tech/M.Tech/PhD students

Postdoc Appointment Term:

1 year (renewable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct original research in Energy Systems including building energy systems with a focus on integrated systems design, and implementation experiments, simulations, and models to analyse heat pumps, chillers, thermal energy storage, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to explore new research directions and contribute to grant proposals.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at conferences to disseminate research outcomes.


  • Ph.D. in a related field, with a strong focus on high quality output including publications, technology development
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Energy systems modeling, design of experiments, HVAC, thermo-fluids research, heat transfer/fluid mechanics or related fields.
  • Proficiency in scientific computing (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) and experience with simulation tools such as DWSIM, OpenModelica , or similar software.
  • Proven track record of publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
  • Proven presentation and writing skills
  • Excellent at task management, reporting and project planning
